We heard the cry for better wheels to use on World War One aircraft, and through a lot of hard work, and some trials of patience, and a bunch of hard earned cash, we have now accomplished the second of two missions in making 1/3 scale WWI wheels. The original WmBros designs were all ignored, and we started from scratch to design a truely scale wheel to meet the higher level of scale demand from the customers. In order to do so, we had to split the project into Allied and Central versions, as one wheel does not fit all. So, we researched, and using original Palmer and Fokker factory drawings, designed wheels for each type of the 700 x 100 mm style, one of the most used wheel sizes in the war. Our biggest injection machine was pushed to it's maximum limits, but we did it!
And so, we set the new bar for scale among the world of plastic molded wheels, and put Williams Brothers on top once again!!

German wheel- molded in "Fokker Blue" (matched to WarBird Colors paints)

Diameter- 9.2"; Axle hole length- 2.1" German
ABS molded wheel with Molded rubber tire, stuffed with extruded foam rod for stiffness ( won't dry rot).
Axle Diameter- Removable Olite Bronze Bushings, stock is 3/8" ID. A 1/2" ID bushing set is also available separately.
Weight- 18 ounces per wheel
Target design at 30 to 40lb models ideally. Static testing on one wheel indicates it goes approximately 1/2 flat with 45lbs applied to it.

- Designed based on original Fokker factory wheel drawings, this wheel is scaled from a 700mm x 100mm standard wheel that was found on many German aircraft, and was one of the most popular sizes in use during World War One. The wheel simulates the original spoke layout and models the way it looks with a fabric covered wheel cover, and displays the flap for air valve access on the backside (original factory layout, although changes did occur in the field) The White tire color is true to scale, as early tires were made from natural Rubber and the use of Carbon was not in full use until after World War One.
- Ideal for models that range in the 30 to 40 lb range, although it has been used on heavier models. The tire and stuffing resists flattening, and will rebound; however, since not a true pneumatic tire, it's always best to not store wheels under weight of the model.
- The metal bushings used for the axle provide a wonderful, true spin and resists wear.
- There is also an optional 1/2" Diameter bushing available separately.
- Wheel hubs can be painted to increase realism with most paints that work on ABS, such as enamel or polyurethane. Test before use, and be sure to fuel proof paints if needed, such as with an oil based polyurethane. Tires are impervious to most all chemicals and fuels.
